Festival Module (precompiled kernel)

Hi all,

 I made a precompiled kernel, with Speakup and Festival module support 
active.

You can find it, here: 
http://weblab.deis.unibo.it/Linux4D/codice/Linux4d-kernel.tar.gz

So you don't need to patch the kernel and recompile it; but you only 
need to add this kernel to your boot manager and compile "middleware".

Where can I obtain the patch and I assume the patch allows for the module to
access the festival software? SOrry my Linux box has been down and so have
been using my wife's machine and lost some of my mail. Any url that gives
the directions for building this in would be very much appreciated.
I just may have a real need for such an arrangement on a laptop.

The code is here: 
http://weblab.deis.unibo.it/Linux4D/codice/speakup-festival.tar.gz

It isn't in "patch" format, but as "file to copy".
At present there is only an italian version of "installation docs", 
howevere in the speakup archive you can find an email from me (some days 
ago), with some instructions...

can you give instructions on how to do this please?
i am using a red hat kernel 2.4.18-14 but intend to upgrade to 2.4.20 or maybe just 2.4.18-27.8.0 which is the latest erata fix to the red hat kernels for 8.0.
is the kernel you made one which will have all the support for modules etc. that my other kernels have?  if i upgrade kernels, what do i have to do to slot this new kernel into the system after upgrading with the kernel rpms?

The package contains the kernel boot image (to copy into /boot 
directory) and a lot of modules (to copy into /lib/modules/2.4.19Linux4D 
directory).
However the directory tree into the package is the same as your hard 
disk, so you only have to copy the file from the package, to the same 
directory of your hard disk.

Then you have to add this new kernel to your boot manager (e.g. for lilo 
adding few lines to /etc/lilo.conf and rebooting lilo).

In this way you can add as many kernel as you want, and choose beetween 
them at boot.

Thanks again for the help (in advance).

I got your precompiled kernel; untarred it in my system's root
directory; everything went where it was supposed to go. Put the proper
entry into lilo and rebooted. The kernel booted--but no modules
loaded. I have no network access. Looking at syslog, I see it says
something about no system map and, therefore, no modules loaded. How
does one generate this to get modules to load?

System (well, the one that I'm putting Festival-enabled Speakup on) is
a Thinkpad A21M laptop; 256MB RAM; 800MHz P3; Debian GNU/Linux. ...
