what hardware do i need to use speakup

Do I need just some soundcard or any other special hardware to use speakup?
I haven't installed slackware yet, so I want to now before I'll do this

Hi,

All you need to use speakup is one of the supported synthesizers.
Sorry, I don't remember what the full list is.
Maybe someone else could answer that question.
As of now, speakup doesn't work with a sound card.

That's the speech output device you use.
Examples of some are adoubletalk lt or pc, or a braille'n speak in speech box mode.
