links versis lynx

Hi,

Wohndering what is the difference between links and lynx as on my redhad install I have links.  wondering if links will work ok what is the best settings/changes I should make to it for best performence with speakup?

Links will work fine with Speakup, after changing a few settings.
In the HTML options (under the View menu), you need to turn off support
for tables and frames.  Also in the terminal options (under a menu
which is called either Setup or Settings), you need to turn off the
"Block cursor" setting, so you know what's highlighted on the Web page.
Once that's done be sure to save all the settings.

However, Lynx currently supports some popular Web technologies, such
as cookies and HTTP authentication, better than Links, and Lynx is the
browser that most Speakup users use anyway.  So try them both if you
can and use whichever works best for you.

I would rather use lynx since it seems better, but I need to get some packages off the redhat cdrom, but some how I am not mounting the darn thing correctly.

mount -t iso9660 /dev/hdc1 cdrom

What am I missing?
Then do get to the cdrom, can I just cd /cdrom?

that should be
mount -t iso9660 /dev/hdc /mnt/cdrom

Hmm, try /dev/hdc instead of /dev/hdc1.
Should fix your problem.

Hi Jim -

The last argument in your mount statement needs to be a "mount point",
so it needs to have a slash in front of the "cdrom".

Links with an i is supposed to be a version of Lynx with a y with more
features, including table support.  However my personal opinion is that Lynx
with a y is more mature and therefore my prefered choice as long as you
don't require the additional facilities.  I really look forward to lynx with
a y version 3.0, which will include support for tables and cascading style
sheets along with other new features of the internet.

Hi, in Red Hat it should have a link to your cdrom already. Typically, you
would type a command like this.
mount /mnt/cdrom
Then you can access the rom by typing:
cd /mnt/cdrom

Great, this worked just fine, but I can't get to my fat32 drive as it says the kernal does not support it, I'm just using the kernal that was installed at installation of rh 7.1.

is fat not compiled in?
