Hi all. Is it just me or are messages being deferred on this list for a
long time? B/c it seems that its taking a really long time before I
actually see some of my msgs appearing on the list. If its just at my
end, sorry for cluttering the list.

No, it's not just you. In fact, I mentioned the same thing here a
couple of days ago in my why is the list sluggish thread.

I'm seeing much the same thing. On most lists, when I send a message,
within thirty seconds to a minute I get my message back. But on this list,
it can sometimes take many minutes for the message to come back to me. So
no, it isn't just you.
Jayson.

When you run spam software, it can slow things down quite a bit. I sent
myself a message locally it can take 20 seconds or so for the message to get
through. I am running spamassassen. It is the best thing I ever did. Id
deletes nothing yet does an accurate job of cleaning mail.

Hi their. How do you configure Spam assisin to wrok w/sendmail? While
I'm at it, any ideas for configuring it to work with the clamav package?
I'm using Fedora Core 2 here if it should make a difference. Thanks for
any ideas.
Much appreciated.

I use exim and found set up instructions for exim 3 as part of its
documentation. The best part of spam assassin is real the fact that it uses
razor if you have it installed. We also feed it 6000 spam messages that we
have been saving for a while so we trained it. Those messages are available
as part of an article on our weblog at
www.interfree/weblog.
Just do a find on spam on the page and you'll find the article and file if
you want it. I think you should read to make sure it is spam. I had no
idea such crap existed until I read a bunch of it. After about 100 you'll
be convinced we haven't made any mistakes.

sendmail sucks. It's really hard to get clamav working with it bc of
it's arcain config files.

Ok, well that helps. What I may do is use Exim or something. While on
another note, I got Freedombox working here. However, is their a way to
start the app from within a Gnome session? Or do I have to ahve two X
servers running? BC when I do, it complains about an error even when I do
an alt+F2 within the Gnome session which should be sufficient.
