Hi,

I ran into the same problem as Janina when I installed RH 7.2 from ISO's I
downloaded at the end of March. I attributed it to my ignorance of speakup
or something about the new Dell Inspiron notebook I was trying to install
it on. I am partially sighted, so was able to get through the installation.
I also encountered a corrupted display on the first screen of the install.
I hit a key and that cleared up the display problem... ???

When I tried the boot floppy still got the same error as when I booted off
cd.

This is clearly broken. You need to boot from floppy or do as I
did and burn a bootable CD with just the floppy image.

You should make a new floppy from the images directory.

I tried to install this morning and got the same error I think.

It says that it is probably a bug. I just thought it was the fact that I
was using a boot floppy from an earlier version that was causing my error.

It is better to give than to receive. don't believe me, just ask a boxer.

Richard

Hi, Tommy:

Yes, I did succeed installing, but I also had to deal with the
same two problems you described.

The cursor thing is a real shame. This is regression, not
progress, because this problem is new.

As for the Anaconda error--are you booting off the CD ROM? That's
what I was doing, and it seems to be the source of the problem.
Try booting with a floppy.

I didn't have my floppy with me, so I burned a CD ROM with just
the floppy image. That got my install going.

Hi,
I had noticed that on the beta as well. I didn't realize that it wasn't
normal behavior. I thought there was some cursor tracking issues (previous
version maybe?) with speakup. I simply used home instead of up-arrow for
most of the menus. The touchiest part was disk druid, but I had the
partitions pre-defined with labels using partition magic from windows. All
I had to do in disk druid was add in the mount points and set it to format
the partition.

I haven't gotten around to loading 7.3 yet so I can't comment on it. The
issues with anaconda did not appear once the beta was loaded (links tracked
just fine) as did vi. It is my intention to blow away the beta install and
load 7.3 this weekend. I'll post my results. BTW, did you use cd-boot or a
floppy to kickoff the install?
regards,
Cecil

Hi guys. Anyone been able to install the new RH images that Bill poste to
the ftp a couple days ago?
Just tried and got an anacomda error or something.
Also it seems like the curser tracking isn't working like it should.
Seems to speak the next line down when you hit current line when selecting
language or key map.
Like it will say your on French when on English and speakup-lt when on
speakup.

Tommy
