Hi Ilko: You will want to get linux-2.5.70. Speakup will patch
cleanly against that and there have been so many changes to the
console code that you do not want to try using something from the
transition period.
So try linux-2.5.70 and the cvs version of speakup. I believe I have
the arm support patched in but it hasn't been tested so that would be
good.

Hello,
I will try to port the speakup for StrongArm/Xscale platform. I have
TRITON LP board with Intel XScale CPU and Linux 2.5.30.
There are two things to do:
- to work with Xsclale serial port - this should not be very difficult
- the patch of the linux/drivers/char/keyboard.c
There is big difference between keyboard.c form kernel 2.4.20 and
keyboard.c from 2.5.30 and the present patch didn't work.
Are there someone working on the patch for kernel 2.5 or can someone
help me to make a patch for keyboard.c on the new kernel?
best regards
ilko

Just what is this "StrongArm" stuff? I've heard of it but have no clue
as to what is or does:).
BTW, *VERY* glad to hear that 2.5 is going well with speakup now.
Might have to give it a try some time.

Processor for PDAs ... like iPAQ ...
The CPU chip integrates a whole bunch of stuff
for mobile devices including graphics, touch
screens, etc. Then one companion chip provides
audio, usb, etc.
The old "strongarm" is now being replaced by
"xscale" which is quite interesting. 400Mhz
in a PDA with audio and lots of peripherals

Hi Steve,
StrongARM is a type of specialized processor that is used in specialized
devices. I doubt you'll find StrongARM processors in PC type systems.
An example of the use of StrongARM processors is in SonicWALL's high end
firewalls, such as their Pro 300 series.
