* Burning CDrom-Images onto a CDROM

Hi Listers, I downloaded the ISO-Images for Redhat 8.0 with Speakup from the
Speakup site. As I haven't got a CD Burner I asked my neibor to do that for
me, but he just managed to copy the files directly to the CDs, which is, of
course, absolutely not what I want. My Neighbor uses Windows XP and Nero as
a Burn Programm.
So I'd like a few questions from this list to be answered:
Does anyone in this list know enough about Windows XP and Nero to tell me
how CDrom Images can be put on a CD?
or, maybe it is possible to mount the CD images that are still on my hard
disk in some way! I remember not very clearly there used to be a way to
treat images on a hard disk like extra file systems?
Hoping for an answer from this list, I wish You all the best for the
weekend.
Regards Ernst

Ernst-Dieter Wedekind writes:You can install directly from the iso
images, but only if you're not planning to format the partition where
the iso files reside.

This is explained in our installation HOWTO:

I would like to clarify the mount command if I may:
mount -t iso9660 -o loop iso-filename mountpoint
where iso-filename is the name of your downloaded ISO image and mount
point is the name of the directory you point your mounted file system
to.

As for Nero, Go into the File menu, choose Burn CD image and it should
prompt you for the input image. I believe Nero starts by presenting
the open dialog with *.nrg (Nero images) as a default but you can
arrow down in that combo to get *.iso. Once you've done that, it
should proceed as Nero would usually do for CD burning.

Sorry for the windows related poop here but this dude wants to get a
linux ISO set up for himself:)

Hope I'm clear enough with the Nero thing; I might not have that burn
option spelled out exactly but that should get you there. If the
neighbor is familiar enough with Nero, he should be able to figure
this out the rest of the way.

Hello. In terms fo mounting the iso images, yes you can use the loopback
filesystem on Linux. If you are indeed doing this, do mount -o loop file.iso,
where file is the name of your image.
