solution found for the weird characters in console

I thought I'd post this, as someone else mentioned having problems:
I was working with it, and i set the ssh client to use the linux terminal, (though I'm not sure if that matters), and utf-8 encoding, which I think did the trick.

This is good (how did you set ssh in this way?),
But that is not a solution for the console.
