Hi Guys. Well, I've gotten tired of waiting for the chance for a new pc and decided to put linux on the family computer. I of course plan to make lilo come up with a boot prompt so I can boot windows. I just want to try linux, but I can't get into dos and run zipspeak because it won't ditect my C drive when I try changing dirs to it I think debian, because it can install over ftp, but slackware has an easier install. Which one do you think would be good for a newbee?

Use zipspeak and use it to boot off your d drive or what ever the main
windows drive is. I got it up and running in 5 minutes. Email me at
jared-stofflett@twmi.rr.com
For help.

Since I use Win XP, it uses ntfs and I herd that that wouldn't work.

You don't have to use ntfs, you can use fat32, although it's not as
efficient for storing data on your Windows drive.

I would still say that Zipspeak would be the most convenient method of
installing on a shared computer. Could you possibly give more details on
what you mean by "it won't detect my c drive"?
Do you mean that you can't boot into dos?

I boot into an A prompt, but when I type "c:", it won't find it. It does
however work on a lap top I'm trying to setup for my dad. How else would I
shrink my partition?

I have to boot to an A prompt since xp doesn't have real mode dos. Also,
will zipspeak run on ntfs anyway?
