Emacs

[Dave Hunt]

I'm running Zipspeak and wish to install Emacs and Emacspeak.  In addition
to the latest GNU Emacs, what else do I need to install.  How does
Slackware package Emacs?  Oh, yes, I'm already  aware that I'll will need
to run a non-speakup kernel when I wish to use Emacspeak.

Hi Dave:  I can not help you with how to set up the emacspeak
package.  I have never done that.  You won't need to run a different
kernel though.  You can just turn off speakups output with the
ins-enter (total shut up) key combination while you are using
emacspeak.  You can do that on any virtual console you run emacspeak
on and keep speakup talking on the other ones.  Of course, standard
disclaimer it depends on your synth and the position of Venus with
respect to Mars in the north eastern skies.

Kirk, let me make sure. I believe that once Speakup is loaded, it iwll
capture the port with your synthesizer. Am I wrong?

Thanks, Victor.

I got the impression that Speakup 'takes over' the port on which your
synthesizer is connected, even when it is turned off.  To be safe, I'll
use another kernel and run emacspeak in two consoles if necessary.

Slackware packages emacs under the E directories, simple tar files
which will install EMACS the same as any other distro.  You do not need
to install the elisp package as that is just the source code for the
added emacs libraries; having elisp may be useful if you want to
browse through to read about how to use specific packages, but it is
not needed to run the basic system.

Hey it's Tommy.  I am in emacs and cannot get out.  How do I get out?  
Also, I screwed up something called buffers and maccros are loaded.  I 
thought emacs was an editor.  Wow!
