Hi speakup,
Here's my little problem.
I've downloaded the Fedora core speakup-enabled disks from
ftp://ftp.linux-speakup.org. I've burnt the iso images onto cd's and
am now trying to install the speakup-enabled Fedora. What happens is
that even though i type $text speakup_synth=apolo, i get no speach
at all. The program goes into installation mode but no sign of
speach, nada. it doesn't even seem to touch the serial port and it
doesn't matter if i use "speakup_ser=S0" to determine where the
synth is.
What am i doing wrong?
TIA

Could you be spelling apollo wrong?
Maybe I mis-spelled it, I only notice that it does not sound right in your
message.
In your message you spelled it:
apolo
Glenn.

I've tried spelling it both ways, no joy the synth is dead. The
strange thing is that there's no error message of any kind, according
to what the sighted person who helped me said.

Hello there. Does your synth work under Winblows? What version of Speakup
does the Fedora ISO's use?

Possibly but can't say since i only use softsynths on Windblows.
EH> What version of Speakup does the Fedora ISO's use?
I don't have a clue on that, but am assuming it has the cvs version.

speakup in fedora is currently 2.0CVS.
And the apolo isn't working in it because the module is not compiled. I
tried compiling it on its own this morning but it kept telling me that there
was syntax errors. I'm just compiling the CVS version at the moment.
