What's the easiest way to access the nat/port forwarding/dmz facilities of a wrt54GS under Linux? Plus I'm seeing if my mail will even send.

Garrett,
If you are willing to replace the Linksys firmware with OpenWRT, you'll get
Linux in the router with ssh access and can manage nat and port forwarding
via iptables. Note, if your WRT54GS is hardware v5, you can't use OpenWRT.
You need hardware V4 or earlier.

You can easily telnet to the router, and connect it to it that way.
It's default address is 192.168.1.1. This is how I configured mine.

I'm with Jim, replace the o.s. on that router with linux and live
happily everafter. You can find details at www.openwrt.org.
