hello can a braille light ml 40 be used as a speech synth with speakup? if so what synth do I use? also can it be used as a braille display with speak up or in conjunction with speakup? if so what packages are needed?

Yes, if you have firmware version 4.0 or higher, the blm 20/40 should
be supported as a doubletalk lt. Don't know about the answer to your
braille display question, but you should check out braille tty, and
see if they have anything to say on the subject.

I have no idea what firmware this thing has I am getting it used the person
who is celling it to me just got it about 6 months ago so I would assume it
would have the latest firmware on it whitch would be 4.0

Yes as a synth use it as a bns. As a braille display that is controlled by
brltty. You can't use a braillelite as a synth and a braille display at the
same time.
