Speakup patching error

Hello,

I've just tried patching my linux server with the speakup product and 
received the following error.  Can anyone tell me what it means.

The kernal version is: 4.5.50-189

pppppppppppppppp1 out of 1 hunk failed - saving rejects to file 
/usr/src/linux/include/linux/miscdevice.h.rej

Hmm, never heard of linux 4.5.50-189 before.

Anyway, don't worry about that error. It just means that /dev/synth is
already defined in the kernel source. Just go ahead and build the
kernel as usual.

I am assuming here that you're patching the kernel with speakup 1.5.

... ooops, so I can't  type after all this, the kernal version should have 
been 4.2.20-189 as memory goes.

So this error is harmless? bc I get it when patching kernel 2.4.21 and 
later.

Yup don't worry about it. As long as the failed patch is on miscdevice.h,
you can ignore it.

think what he meant was 2.4.20.
