Hi listers
Does anyone know what the status of trippletalk support under linux is,
either PCI or USB? Is anything being done with either of these synths? I
read somewhere that the company would force developers to sign an nda, is
this still the case? If so, will trippletalk ever be supported? The
company's website (axsol.com) says they're "working on it," but that can
mean anything from "we're considering it" to "we don't feel like it right now."

Hi, as I understand it you can use the Triple Talk USB only if you run it as
a serial synth. The driver info is still under wraps, and it is unlikely
they will release anything soon.

We have a Trippletalk usb synth. We also have a usb driver partially
written for it. One of the problems has been that the usb code for
the Intel family of chips is fairly stable while the code for the Via
chip set is not.
Currently our prototype driver is a standard Linux driver instead of a
speakup specific driver. I took this approach because I would like to
move speakup over to using standardized device drivers. I have no
idea how long that will be. We may write a speakup driver in the
short term but can do nothing until there is stability in the chip set
code.
I don't have a pci TrippleTalk. If someone would like to send me one
we'll work on it. I have to thank Janina and AFB for providing the
usb version for us to hack on.

Hi
Great to hear it's being worked on! Unfortunately I don't have a PCI one to
send (I'm not gonna buy one if I can't use it) but it's great to know that
there is progress. Could you explain a bit what you meant by the "chipset
code?" Do you mean the actual chips in the PCs, or the kernel drivers? I've
got a VIA kt400-based board but it works with the UHCI driver and EHCI for
USB 2.0. Would this be compatible whenever the driver is released?
