Hello, list. I tried patching the 2.2-19 kernel source with the
speakup-0.10-a source of of the web site without no checkout updates, and I
got the following errors.

Script started on Mon Sep 10 19:21:58 2001
root@Starblazer:/usr/src/speakup-0.10a# ./install
Patching version v22
Creating .orig files [] done.
Patching files [ppppppppppppppppppp8 out of 8 hunks FAILED -- saving rejects
to file /usr/src/linux/scripts/lxdialog/checklist.c.rej
p3 out of 5 hunks FAILED -- saving rejects to file
/usr/src/linux/scripts/lxdialog/menubox.c.rej
] done.
Copying files [ccccc] done.
root@Starblazer:/usr/src/speakup-0.10a# cd /usr/src
root@Starblazer:/# exit
exit
Script done on Mon Sep 10 19:26:59 2001

If anyone can tell me what I am doing wrong here let me know. I've grabbed
the 2.2-19 source off of kernel.org and the speakup 0.10-a version, and I
can't patch the kernel source.

Hi
Those patches have no meaning to speakup's operation. Basically, unless you're going to use make xconfig to configure your kernel, you can safely ignore these. This is highly unlikely, as xconfig requires X Windows, something we speakup users don't have access to at present. Just use make config or make menuconfig for your kernel configuration and everything will go fine.

Don't wory about thoes.
Go ahead and compile, and you should still get a working kernel.
