Hi all.
A while back, one of the Steves I believe, posted on here that he had
created a gnu/linux caller ID suite that got caller ID info from a
modem, and broadcast it to the console, broadcast it via winpopup
to samba machines, and I think maybe emailed the info too.
Could the person who created that please either let me know where I
can download that from, or can you please send it to me? Thanks much.
Greg

All who have requested the programs that I have for callerid,
I have sent them to you directly.
I have also asked Greg to look into setting up either a svn or cvs
repository for these programs. In this way, we will have the ability of
sharing any changes that we make to the program without re-inventing the
wheel, you know, duplication of effort.

Hi Greg,
I was playing with something like this in the past.
What I did was take some perl scripts that captured the caller id and
then using dwall to transmit the information.
The problem that I was having, and never could feagure out what the
cause was, was that I would get stuck in an endless loop. This would
cause the samba client machine to lock u. A re-boot of the machine
running the samba client was the only to break the loop on that side,
and killing and restarting the process on the linux box was how I
stopped it the host side.
I haven't used it for a while, because of the looping issue.
If I remember the program was cid and it is on sourceforge.
HTH.

Greg,
what is your home email address?
I tried to send the programs to you through the list, and I obviously
exceeded the limit.
I guess it doesn't take much when you have a few lines of perl.
Anyways, send me your direct email address, and I will send the files to
you.
