Hi All,
I was looking on some slackware mirrors, and can't find the esxtra and
source images for slackware 8.1. They are there for 8.0, but not for 8.1.
Does anyone know what's the deal with this?

Like it was mentioned in previous posts, it seems that you need to dish out $40 now in order to get them. Yes, you can still get the individual extra and source packages, but ...

Yes, but the bandwidth is terible and the only ISO image I saw there
this weekend was the install disk and that didn't even contain the
boot/root disks. I think 8.0 was a much better package as far as ISO
images were concerned. I also notice that slackware is's version of
gnome is only 1.4 something and I thought 2.0 was out already.
I think Debian uses 2.0; I've always liked slackware in the past
partly because I cut my teeth on slack but I really wonder if Debian
might have them beet now. At this point, I don't know Debian enough
to want to switch for sure but it may not hurt since they just came
out with a brand new release.

Gnome 2.0 came out just after Slackware 8.1, and no, the new version of
Debian still uses Gnome 1.44. Yeah, Slackware put the boot and root disks
on the extra ISO which means if you download, you're also going to have to
download those. Somehow, I never realized what a pain in the neck this
would be to somebody as I was able to boot the CDROM without a hitch. My
computer dates from late 1997, so I was surprised that it booted the CD,
but it did.
