I use lynx. I'm no expert with it, but used it to download the FC6 files
and a version of GRML. It works well, or at least decently, on some sites,
badly or not at all on others, from my experience.
I've also used w3m from time to time, but have more trouble with it on the
whole.
Since both browsers came with my FC2, I suspect they come with FC6, though I
dare not assume that.

Well, Karen, edbrowse may be the only linux browser actively handling
javascript, but edbrowse is not simple like lynx. Edbrowse was created by
Karl, who also created the Jupiter speech system--and there is a yahoo group
called commandline where he actively interacts with users.
God, each week more-and-more sites are ruining really nice access with
javascript. Latest example is a newspaper, International Herald Tribune
www.iht.com
Any of the printer friendly or e-mail links from stories now won't work. While
I still write sites, explaining that these kind of changes are leaving out text
users, I have yet to have any success in rolling back the tide.

I'm not sure I'd say that it's difficult to use. It takes some adjusting
to but I managed to get used to it pretty quickly, especially if you read
the relevant sections of the documentation. I don't use it to anything like
it's full capabilities though.
I agree that something needs to be done to get more textbased browsers to
handle javascript. A lotof the sites I use have a high content of
javascript, and so for the moment I do most of my internet browsing in
windows. as I'm trying to get more over to linux, I will have to experiment
with Orca using firefox, but I'm told it's not particularly good yet.

Hi Robin,
I long since decided that one man's difficulty is another's simplicity,
and that I am the only person who can decide if something cannot work
forme grin.
I felt sure you found it fine otherwise you would not have suggested this.
Frankly I still do not understand why someone does not work on Lynx so it
can manage javascript.
There is a great deal of funding out there to support such ventures, only
the talent is missing.
Lynx the cat has enough of a reputation too that bringing it up to speed
might ease some of the blank stares you can encounter trying to explain
what access means.
In any case, back to my point, Others have problems with links the chain
and e-links, but it works for
me.
I am working with some at Cingular wireless regarding their site which is
a total washout with everything as to your managing to read your bill
online, same can be said for mci.
If anyone is using an alternative browser and receives services from
either of these guys, will you drop me a note off list? thanks for the
site robin.
