Hi all,
How do I turn up/down volume on my Debian box?
I was running zinf, and the volume is extremely low.
Many thanks in advance!

Now, is aumix another player or what?
It's not on my system yet.
Many thanks!

Well Grant-and All, I don't have an aumix command, however, when I run locate,
here's what I get
/usr/share/man/fr/man1/aumix.1.gz
/usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/emacspeak/lisp/emacspeak-aumix.el
/usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/emacspeak/lisp/emacspeak-aumix.elc
/usr/share/emacs/site-lisp/emacspeak/etc/forms/aumix-rc.el
Gran, for me a more important question, since you mention zinf, is how can I
increase the trebble? The reason I grabbed zinf is because it was supposedly a
clone of winamp--and in winamp there are plugins with an equalizer. Thanks in
advance
Hart

Would you not adjust the volume with Alsamixer?
If I am off track, then I apologise.

Well, the aumix works, but the volume is still too low.
I set the -v, -l, -o options -- all to 100, and it has increased somewhat,
but it's still too low.
What is Alsamixer all about?
Many thanks in advance!

Alsamixer is a volume control for alsa. There is also a command-line
alsa volume control called amixer. Finally, for oss, I assume that
rexima still exists.

As its name sugguests, it is a AUdio MIXer.

Nothing to do with zinf indeed. Look for a "aumix" package.

aumix is a mixer. does your system use alsa or oss? if you use alsa, use
amixer or alsamixer. If you use a 2.4 kernel your system probably uses
oss. If you use a 2.6 kernel then you probably use alsa.
