Well, the rp is an abbreviation for the roaring penguin. This is adsl
protocol support for linux. If you installed everything on your system
you probably already have it installed. commands like man -k dsl and
locate adsl-setup may be helpful. That second one is real important but
locate only works if slocate -u was run at sometime in the past.
adsl-setup is what you use to get rp pppoe set up. If you go with
verizon, make your mru value 1492. Leaving it at 1500 will get your
connection broken down after a month since verizon's system thinks you're
taking more band width than you're entitled to and when verizon breaks a
connection down even if you pay the money to have it restored it is never
restored. Been there; done that, and got the T-shirt but don't use
verizon anymore.

To: Speakup is a screen review system for Linux.

Well this is old slackware 8.0 with 2.2.19 since I don't think I can run
any of the 2.4 kernels under umsdos.
Right now I can't get past the timeout message each time I run adsl-start.
BTW, which file is the mru value set in? I expect it would be
/etc/ppp/pppoe.conf, but I'll look around at it and see.
