online if games

Hi.  I've created a tool similar to the one on eldorado.elsewhere.org
where you can login and play if games.  In the one I created however you
can choose from inform and tads games.  So this is not just limited to
infocom style games only.

One thing however and this is a matter of security.  I'd like some
opinions in case I've left a gaping hole since the account has no
password.

I set the login shell to the shell that does the actual game menu
creation.  I've tested it so that any time when you press control-c the
telnet session closes.  What else should I be looking for?  anyways of
setting it up this way that the user can drop out of the games and into
an $ prompt?

It's a bash script.  Sorry, forgot to give details.

telnet to asmodean.net and log in with user ifgames and no password.

I tried control backslash and nothing happened except the bash script gave
the line number and said an integer expected but the script did not exit.

try ! <cr> and see if you can shell out.  I think to prevent this you may
want to run that application under restricted shell with the -r on its
command line to start it up.

One thing I'd like to see is the menu be able to pause so you can review
it.  As it stands now, it scrolls off the screen so that it is impossible
to review the full list of games in detail.

Yep.  that is on my todo list. I'm either wanting to have a pause or have
the games be separated into a-m and then n-z parts.

Hi.  I"ve gotten a couple of private suggestions to keep the "normal" games
and the "adult" games seperate, I'm still thinking on this one.  In any
case, the menu now does not scroll off the screen.  I wrote in a check so
that the menu has two games across the screen.  I fixed the game names so
that they are all in lower-case and I even found some which had spaces in
the names, those are gone.

Just thought I'd let you guys know in case anyone cares.
