Hi all. So I figured I'd check out Speakup's windowing functionality by looking at the help, however when I did numpad insert+f1, I got the message "Help module not found." I suspect the help
system is somehow missing from my Cvs version...? The current version I have installed is Speakup v-2.00 CVS: Tue May 11 16:32:20 EDT 2004. Could someone tell me which .c files comprise the
help system, so that I may be able to see what happened? Thanks!

Failure is not an option, it comes bundled with your Microsoft product.

The help module is one of the few remaining bugs for the 2.6.x kernel
tree. You can load it with modprobe keyhelp but it won't currently
load automagically. If it doesn't load under 2.4.x trees then there's
a problem I don't know about.

But it might despite that bug be ready for inclusion in a distro.

Why not just link it directly into speakupmain or make it optional whether
to build it into the kernel or modularize? I think I've got a patch
laying around here that does that if you want.

Hi Ameer: I could have easily had the help module built-in to the
kernel but it tends to be largish and it was an experiment in
automated module loading on demand. So figure out what's wrong don't
create a work around.

I believe Kirk is correct. It may be easy enough for us to include module code within our own kernel compiles, but this approach is not a recipe for getting Speakup into the default kernel distribution channel. The smaller our footprint, the better our case.
