I am trying to do something which should be easy like changing from ssh1 to
ssh2 as TeraTerm now supports SSH 2. I am using Debian. Can't seem to find
any docs telling me how to do this, as it is probably easy. How do I do
this?

As far as I know, you shouldn't need to do anything. Sshd will happily
accept both ssh1 and ssh2 connections.

Hello,
If you're using open ssh for serving ssh connections (most likely), then you don't need to do
anything. This server will automatically try to use ssh2, and fall back to ssh1 if your client
doesn't support the newer protocol. If you would like to disable ssh1 so that it won't be used
by the server, see the man page for sshd_config.

Your ssh client should automatically try SSH 2 first unless a command
line parameter or configuration file option specifies otherwise. On
Slackware, the system-wide configuration file is /etc/ssh/ssh_config,
and personal configuration files can be placed in users' home
directories. The man pages for `ssh_config' and `ssh' give more
details. HTH, and have a _great_ weekend.

You can also force an ssh 2 connection by typing ssh -2 and conversely force a
ssh protocal version 1 connection by typing ssh -1. If your version of the ssh
client and server on the debian system is out of date, then ofcourse a apt-get
update followed by apt-get upgrade should work.
