To: speakup
We had a discussion on this list about running 2 subnets and blocking the
internet from one card and so on. I found a solution for allowing a linux
server to be on 2 high speed connections. linksys makes a router that does
load balancing between 2 internet connections but I can't find a store that
has it locally. Where does one order these kinds of things in Canada? I am
looking for a large supplier that I can call that might have such a thing an
I can't think of one. Any ideas? The model is Linksys rv082.

Just go to their home page and buy it from them. You can also try buying
it online from different venders.

Yeah they won't sell that kind of stuff in stores.
It's not really a consumer-oriented product (most average users don't
even know wtf load balancing is) and that's what stores cater to.
your best bet is to buy it on the net either directly from linksys or
one of it's dealers.

I'll have to call Linksys then because their advertised dealers on there
page looks like it wasn't updated since 1862. There are only 2. I really
need a huge Canadian supplier that I can call but I can't think of any.

Hello there. In order to share two high-speed connections, you'll need some
kind of load-balancing. Also, the router must support the use of multiple
uplink interfaces. Also if it supports SPI/Quality of Service Data in order
to do network packeg/protocol prioritization, that would be good. Also,
what logging facilities does the router have? Does it export to the
standard UNIX syslogd? On ports that are forwarded, does it automatically
perform a DNS/reverse DNS query on hostnames? These are all things you need
to look at.
