Hi again all.
I was going to e-mail wrn just now, letting them know their site is
inaccessible. When you go to the "calling all listeners" section, on
the listeners and viewers page, the e-mail us link in that section
takes you to their contact us page. That page has a form with fields
for your name, your comments, and guess what else ... a captcha
verification code.
I then went to the site feedback page on their forums, but couldn't
find a way to post there, which I suspect is because I'm not
registered. As has been mentioned before, registering with their site
also requires using captcha. If there is someone else here who can
solve wrn's captcha without problems, and is willing to take on the task
of informing wrn that their new site is an extreme disappointment as
far as accessibility goes, please let me know. If I don't hear from
anyone willing to take this on by Monday, I'll register with solona,
and see if I could do it that way. Thanks.
Greg

Gregory,
I have sent them a message about the problem and asked them to contact
you directly.

Go to their corporate section. Not only is it a lot more accessible but
I found two email addresses. Try writing to sales@wrn.org. Also, if
there is someone in the UK or who is willing to call there, they publish
a phone number. It is impossible to download anything without an
account and all download accounts must be approved by a human. The only
"free" accounts that don't require human validation are the current
stream and the 7-day streams. I'm fairly sure that only corporate
customers are allowed to download anyway. I might try again later, but
I'm thinking there isn't much point.

Thanks, I'll do that. I didn't go into the corporate section, since I
didn't think there'd be anything for me to look at there.

Try what again later? Also, since Robert's message, I still haven't
gotten any mail from wrn.

I might try registration again later. The problem is that WebVisum can
deal with their images, but it only works in Firefox. There is a set of
radio buttons you have to use to pick what account type you want, but
they don't seem to work in Firefox. They probably work in IE6, but I
don't have a way to solve their image. I didn't get solona.net to work
with IE6 even though I was following their instructions exactly. I
don't think there is much point because of the lack of accessibility and
presumably the lack of ftp access.

Hi All
Are there text or audio tutorials available for Speakup?
I'm a newbie in Linux quite eager to work in console mode. Can you help
please?

Hi,
I'm also a newbie and I'm still searching for the same information you want.
Here is what I have learned.
You can try the new live CD for Vinux 2.0 CLI (command line interface).
http://vinux.org.uk/downloads/old/2.0/CLI-Edition/
You can start by downloading the help text file.
Vinux-2.0-CLI-help.txt
If using Windows, use WORD to open this text file. This file will give you
the basic SpeakUp commands. Using another text editor may not handle the
line break correctly.
If you can boot to the live Cd you will be at the command prompt. Then you
can use the help and manual commands to start the learning process.
Try typing the command for time/date:
time<ENTER>
time --help<ENTER>
man time<ENTER>
For more detailed help but harder to read type:
man time <ENTER>
man topic <ENTER>
Type "q" to quit the manual.
Peter

Hi,
I'm intending to create them in a few months. For now, you can look at
the sites below.

Kallie,
Welcome to this list.
I think that what you should be googling for, is a tutorial from Windows
to unix, or one on using the linux command-line.
