    Hi list,

I was just wondering how would I go about installing Fedora 7? I never was
able to get the images to burn properly with my Roxio Easy CD Creator 5
application.
When I access CD 1 I get the error: The file or directory is corrupted and
unreadable.
What do I do next? Maybe I'm burning the images wrong? Perhaps I do not have
the proper CDR? I've went ahead and purchased the install set from Cheap
Bytes.com, hopefully that'll work otherwise I would have wasted $14.74 on
CD's.
Has anyone had luck burning the CD images, or installing with discs brought
from Cheap Bytes.com?

dan,
Run a checksum on the disk.
Also, use alcahal 120 or something to burn, so it will burn the boot sektor
to.
There should be a readme in the cd telling you what to do.
If you want I'll look at the site where you got your cds etc and see what's
going on, if I can.
Thanks,
Tyler Littlefield.

You can expect the discs you purchased from Cheap Bytes will be properly
created.

To answer your other question in a word: "Yes." Many of us have
successfully burned discs and other wise installed from those files.

Since you mention Cheap Bytes, I am guessing the odds are high you're
talking about the Speakup Modified Fedora? Be sure to follow the
Installation HOWTO closely once you get your discs in the mail, and
don't hesitate to ask for help on specific points.

Well nice to know that what I'm buying will work. What I don't understand
then, is why the images will burn to the CD but the CD won't boot.
As a testrun, I burned an FC3 image to a CD and the CD is accessible both
from Windows and the CD boots as well.
I will keep you all informed as to how Fedora works for me, once I get
around to finding a suitable machine to detacate Fedora to and actually
install it.
Also before I forget, I was wondering was there anyway to reset Speakup
should it ever stop talking? I ask this because on FC3, Speakup for me, at
least, would stop talking after a long time and I'd have to reboot the
machine to get speech back. I am using a Braille 'N Speak 2000 as a hardware
synth. Thanks for the help.

     I've installed Redhat v7, Debian v2 and v3, and Slackware v11 from
Cheapbytes CD's, and have never had a problem...except when I tried to
install from two disks at the same time, in the same CD drive. Made a
hell of a noise and almost installed, though. <grins>
