Serial parameters for synth.

Hi listers, I'm curious as to what the serial parameters are for most
synths. Are they 9600 baud, no parity, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit and
hardware handshaking? Or is it software handshake.

All serial synths that support hardware handshaking are hardware
handshaked.  I believe the only ones that do not are the DecTalk
family.

Yes, the bns driver at least uses 9600,8,n,1. As for the handshaking,
Kirk says that the bns should be set to hardware. However, I've found
in all versions of speakup which I've used that if I set my bns to
hardware handshake, I continually have to use speakup key and numpad
enter to wake the synth back up after any sizable chunks of data are
spoken. If I set the bns to software handshake however, speakup works
just fine for me no matter how much data is spoken, and no matter how
long I use speakup for with the bns during a given session.
