Hello,
Does anyone know how to get the redhat linux 6.1 install to go in to
text mode so I can install either via a speakup bootdisk or serial
terminal?
Thanks.
Dave.

Hi
Yep, quite simple. When the disk stops spinning at the boot: prompt, just type text. It will come up in text installation, though I believe the speakup boot disks for 6.1 are broken and some modules won't load.

Another method of sending it to text mode is to unplug your mouse.

When the floppy stops spinning, type in text and press enter, off it goes
into text mode.

Hello,
Thanks for the response. Will I be able to use speakup bootdisks, and
will this method also work if I'm using a serial terminal?
Thanks.
Dave.
