Hi All: Supposedly this may work in bash, however, I would like to do this in
tcsh. Sometimes I want to explore man-pages with tab-completion. However, it
only completes files or directories, not programs. So typing man lyn would
show
lynx.cfg and lynx_bookmarks but not actual lynx. Can some1 please suggest how I
can fix this in Debian? Thanks so much in advance
Chime

I'm not even certain this is possible with man. Perhaps whatis or
appropos offers more options.

Tab completion is for finding things in the directory you are
pointing to. To find manual entries containing a string try:
man -k lyn
or
man -k orca

Actually, this isn't strictly correct.
The built-in tab completion for the Bash and other shells does do this.
However, it's possible to configure Bash at least to provide tab
completion for specific programs.
The bash-completion package under Debian contains over 600 such completion
recipes.
Installing it allows me to get tab completion for the man command as
discussed here.
However, the original poster was asking about TCSH, which I do not know
about.
HTH,
Geoff.
