Snap is a perl based napster client, it has interfaces for GTK, console
and simple terminal, it's the best of text clients, at least so I think....

Also nap. ... I think that there might be a copy of nap at
ftp://ftp.braille.uwo.ca/pub/linux/goodies/nap-1.4.4.tar.gz
If not, check freshmeat. It's called something like
napster client for linux

Thanks. I tried snap. It works beautifully.
The first thing I notice about the napster client is
how closely it resembles the old ircii client.
Am I correct in thinking that Napster is re-using the IRC
protocol?

Hm... Not that I know, It's more like the programmers reusing the irc interface each and everyone of us knows and loves. :)

No they are certainly not using irc protocol.
IRc can't handle file-browsing e.d.
It's there own protocol.

Has anyone found a command line Windows Media player for Linux?
It seems that some of my favorite radio stations are now using
this format exclusively to my considerable vexation.
Meanwhile I've discovered that I can install and run the snap napster
client quite easily on my ISP shell account. This is useful since
on my ISP account, when the client encounters a firewalled user, it
handles the alternative download correctly. When I run snap on my local
Linux machine, it does not. Very Odd. Has anyone encountered this
behavior with snap?

Can't realplayer handle that? I don't listen to streamed stuff over the
internet very much but it always seemed to me that realplayer is the program
you need whenever you want to decrypt some ugly proprietary format.

It's always worked fine for me, how are you connecting to your ISP, PPP? Is
your ISP blocking some ports or is there some sort of filtering set up on your
machine?

Hi, I have a few questions. Is their a version of napster yet for
linux? Does any one know if their is a screen reader that run with X
windwos? I am also wondering if there is a screen reader that I can put
in my rc scripts to read me the boot up message when it does a run level
change like from boot to run level 3. bye
Nick Gawronski the chihuahua eater, http://www.blkbox.com/~nick now
includes sound and audio content still being worked on but it is still
good. Please sign my guest book when you come to my web page.
