Is there a transcript for those of us who cannot solve the captchas for
Youtube?

With a youtube account, you could search for the vox.com channel or
channels and subscribe to one of them. I think this article is in the
future perfect channel if such exists. That way you bypass the captchas
this time.

Save that YouTube no longer works well in command line Linux.
Meaning many of those who need to understand the captcha barriers are not
likely to get this information.

Well, youtube-viewer works well to play, search, or download items from
youtube, also, youtube-dl which is updated rather frequently.

I don't know what happened to straw-viewer it may still be supported but
pipe-viewer seems to have replaced it on archlinux. There's mention of
straw-viewer but no package so far as I can tell.

Well, last time I replied to all, it also included blind talk which I am not
subscribed to. I just tried an apt in Debian for pipe-viewer, but no luck. Is
pipe-viewer also from Trizen? Thanks in advance

Which is why nothing beats a good old fashioned transcript.
Little privacy trade off required smiles.

I have a script if I can find it that takes a youtube download and cleans
the file name up and converts it to an mp3 file. It uses youtube-dl with
a bunch of command line parameters and a variable which has to be
populated. Now if that variable is a filename and several youtube urls
are in that file, the script does batch mode and cleans them all up and
converts them to mp3.

I think youtube-dl can download audio files from Youtube and convert
them to mp3. It uses ffmpeg to do it as I recall. It can even clean up
the filenames for you based on the information on the youtube page for
the video. Last I knew, Youtube has no captcha, and youtube-dl still
works as of the past week.

I did downloads and conversions you described using ypl.sh. I did reading
of the youtube-dl man page then wrote that script. I probably will
improve that in a little bit of time.

Wouldn't that script be bbetter off as a function, so you can use it on the command line without editing the script and adding urls.

You can put a file name inside the playlist variable. If that file has
one youtube url in it, then only one url gets processed. In a little bit
I'm going to check for youtube-dl and ffmpeg and have the script error out
if any or all of them are missing. That should only need a for loop with
the names of the packages inside it to do that.
