Jacob,

Have you examined the assignment of interrupts to your sound card and 
your ethernet card? Are they perhaps attempting to share an IRQ? Some 
cards are more sensitive than others to IRQ sharing. I have no 
information about your particular sound card, but it would be easy to 
check.
