If not, it should be reported as a bug. I do know that in Slackware 9.1, I could compile Flite with the 8-bit voice, but it would fail with the 16-bit voice. I ended up installing a pre-build binary that somebody else (I can't remember who,) had made. Like I said, if this is a bug in Flite, the developers should be made aware of it if they aren't already.
