I.E. assuming your boot entry in Lilo is called Linux, you would type "Linux single" at the boot prompt. BTW, when you say "current" do you mean you downloaded from the Slackware-current directory? If so, you should be aware that the slack-ware-current directory is essentially the beta test directory for what will eventually be the newest version of Slackware. The latest stable version is 9.1. They really ought to rename the current directory to "testing" or something similar. Anyway, I can't imagine what is causing the lock-up.
