List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: The laptop is connected via a crossover cable to the server in a second nic whose address is 10.1.1.1. The netmask for this nic is 255.255.255.0. The address of my laptop is normally 10.1.1.2 netmask 255.255.255.0. However, this is configured by /etc/rc.d/rc.inet1 on a slackware system I currently have installed.
