List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: I remember some kind of process like that in the 2.4.18 kernel that had to do with my SCSI card that my scanner is attached to. It didn't respond to a signal 9 or anything. In 2.4.19 and later, it exits like it's supposed to. Sounds like a kernel bug to me. I agree, take it out of the kernel.
