List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: I have found it useful to duplicate those initialization commands; I have them in my rc.local file, but I have also placed them in /etc/profile. I have found that sometimes when the speech device is already talking when rc.local is executed, the initialization commands will not be recognized. So the second placement in /etc/profile is a kind of insurance policy.
