I also wonder if this is actual timing. Sorry, but working in computer
support, 7 minutes is seldom more then 2. It does take a long time before
your computer starts talking when booting from a floppy. A huge chunk of
the floppy is read before the kernel starts decompressing. Then the thing
has to decompress and it takes a long time.
If you measured 7 minutes with a watch it is too long. If it just seems
like forever it is probably normal.
