List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: freebsd is a bsd. Bsd is another unix variant of which there are freebsd openbsd netbsd and bsdi. There might even be another that I do not know of. They use a lot of the same applications as found on most systems running gnu/linux. The kernels are very different however.
