A rough date of the end of October was given for version 1.0beta3. This date has come and gone, but no release. However, it's not far away. The chief developer posted on the dev list today that the beta3 branch has been merged into the main CVS tree. This means that CVS downloads from now on (presumably) will be the beta3 version. I'd expect a few days for this to stabilise and then a release. As far as I can recall, there's no *major* features added with this release, however the build system has been reorganised and some numerous bugs squashed. There have also been some ASM optimisations. The next beta should have some of the cool stuff in it, and it will be the first release candidate for version 1.0. That's all for now.
