List-Unsubscribe: , List-Archive: Jim, I had this same problem once. I believe that my mistake was what I had typed at the boot prompt. I just typed "speakup_synth=acntpc" That is I didn't type "ramdisk" As I recall, when I typed "ramdisk speakup_synth=acntpc" everything worked ok. Good luck! Larry
