It cannot open files directly from linux partitions, but can copy them to other partitions with no trouble. I don't know what the later versions are like to access, but version 8 is reasonable. If the current version is accessible and to the same sort of standard as version 8, and you also wish to do repartitioning without having to format, it might be worth the investment. There are other projects, I don't know how well they work, I think there is one that is command lie based, and one that uses an explorer like window. Search the internet for these.
