The image is a "hybrid" ISO, meaning that it is suitable for either a CD or a thumb drive. I think that you just need to copy it to the drive with dd. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to test this, because none of my machines are set up to boot from USB. Others haven't had any trouble with it, though.
