Hi.

Speak_freely from speakup cvs is still the best to use.  I have no problems building it on the latest Ubuntu or Debian.
A command something like:

cvs -d:pserver:anonymous@linux-speakup.org:/usr/src/CVS co speak_freely

should get the latest.
