I didn't see a way to do this in the bios, so I thought there might be something I don't know about to turn off the screen on a laptop under the gnu/linux text console. I have obviously no use for it, it uses up battery power that could be better used elsewhere, and there are times when I'd prefer that others couldn't glance over my shoulder to see what I'm doing.
