But, you can also get hardware speech synths for much much less. The one I am using right now cost me $150 USSd , and it was purchased new. Other synths can be had for around $300 USD new. Or you can look on places like Ebay. A few weeks ago someone on this list was giving away hardware speech synthesizers. This is not as burdensome as you claim.
