Edit your /boot/grub/grub.conf file and remove the statement that says rhgb=quiet in the line that starts with the word kernel. Please note, I am writing from memory, and the exact statement may be slightly different. rhgb=quiet is about throwing up a lovely Red Hat graphic so as not to scare average uswers with all those lovely technical details during boot. So frightening, I know! In fact, your computer is still booting. It's just not talking. I did a personal install. Everything goes fine until firstboot. I issue the command, reboot, and speakup stops talking in the middle of the boot process. > Is there some known bug that I am unaware of? > > Thanks in advance! > > Ameenah A.
