I learned that cdrdao will not work for normal users. According to its author, there is something up with the 2.6.8.1 code causing and he mentioned in his message that cdrecord wouldn't work either. So there's gotta be something in common here. I thought I heard other issues with that version as well but don't recall them now so that might have been vapor.
