I am wondering whether anybody has managed to get a deacent set up with DECtalk software, ALSA, and the dmix plugin via asoundrc, to allow other apps to play sound as well as your speech synth? I took an example asoundrc from the ALSA wiki, put it in place, and made entries to allow the alsa-oss library to be available from login, however it doesn't seem to be satisfactory. If anybody is interested in what I did, please let me know and I will send you the relevant information. Luke
